jap, wenigstens einer. Jim sollte imo als "Schmankerl" für die alten Fans eine Nebenrolle oder wenigstens einen Cameo-Auftritt in der Neuverfilmung erhalten.
Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the
beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the
beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and
sixty six.

Just got home from the meet, a big THANK YOU to Adrian and everyone
organised it and attended

I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable Con/Meet things
I've ever been too, [And I've been to plenty of Sci Fi / Anime + Furry
ones in my time] really nice relaxed atmosphere etc, I had a pretty bad
sore throat, but I was determined not to *wuss out* like I did with the
previous meet

I mentioned to Adrian how cool it would be to have a meet at Friday St,
Ockley [Near Dorking, Surrey] where Ep1 was filmed [I live quite near
it] but the only prob I can see is its a bit *off the beaten track*
prob a good few miles from the Train station, not really walking
distance etc so some sort of Mini bus etc would have to be organised
perhaps, theres a sort of pub/Resturant right near the lake too. I can
make enquiries if people are interested etc

Thanks
Kuma Chan [Guy with the big beard, Levi jkt + Digi Camo trousers]

It was great to meet you, Kuma.  Yes, you were quite unmistakable.
I recognised you straight away!  What a fantastic day, and a really
good turn out.  Loved talking to Annette at last, and seeing Will
again.  The beautiful Madame Vichot is wonderfully charming, and
Katrina, so fun and full of excitement towards the program.  It was
great hearing her talk Tripods!  Everyone in fact was really nice to
talk to and so courteous (courtesy is something I seldom come across
these days.)  The day was certainly full of suprises.  Thankyou so
much, Adrian and Jim.

Getting home on the otherhand was a different matter!  Waited nearly
half an hour for my taxi, before a cab from another company poached
me! :D  He didn't know where the main bus station was, so he took me
to Brighton train station instead.  From there, I walked down to
Churchill square to catch my bus, only to find out that I'd missed
the last one. :(  So back to the trainstation I go, to buy a single
ticket home.  You also meet some very unsavoury characters that time
of evening :o

Think I must have nattered all day and night.  Recounted every
single moment of it back to Patti when I got back (who loved hearing
Jim call out, hello to her over the phone :) )

So whens the next meeting again?
:D :D

Thank you to all those who attended yesterdays meeting in Brighton. I was overcome with how this group has yet
again surpassed it self. Adrian did a great job of getting a perfect venue, he filled it with fantastic memories for
me and the centre of attraction was surely the model Tripod. No Nicole, you can’t go inside it!!

Having met the group and chatted for a while Sven (mailhunter) approached me with a large item in padded wrapping
he and his fellow travellers had lovingly brought from Germany. To my complete astonishment it was a large picture of
Henry holding ‘the bomb’ sitting on the roof of the city of the Tripods which was specially commissioned by Sven. I
took a step back and fought back my tears as I realised how much work and effort had gone into bringing this item to
me and the quality of the work just gob-smacked me. I am sure Sven won’t mind a small jpeg of it going into the
pictures section so you can all see this amazing picture.

It goes without saying that it will take a prominent position in my home and I will treasure it forever. I was
quite touched by this kind gesture and was lost for words at the time. Sven, Evelyne, Nicole and Rainer I thank you
all for this, it was a wonderful gesture and one I shall never forget. I know others in the group knew of this and
were sworn to secrecy, thanks to you also in making it all so perfect.

I must also thank everyone else who attended, it was a very good day and one I hope we can repeat next year. People
were quite open with how they feel about the show and it was great listening to people talk about their recollections
and its affect on their lives over the years. I look forward to hearing on here some of the recollections those who
attended have so the group as a whole can share in, what for me, was a delightful and moving day.

  Best wishes to all

  We thank the Tripods!

  Jim.

Friends,

I got back to Bolton this evening around 6pm (1800, for our German friends!). I'm tired, but I have great memories of
the gathering and I'm very glad I attended.

The exhibition was clearly a labour of love by Adrian. My friend CP and I were impressed by the quality of the
garments worn by our heroes - though Jim had a few problems getting into his old coat, he having acquired a belly like
mine since filming the series!

The Tripod model was impressive. CP said he feels the design is as iconic as the original Starship Enterprise and the
Millennium Falcon. I have to agree.

It was great to see Graz again, someone who sees the books and series the way I do, and it was good to chat with
Annette, whom I hardly spoke to last year.

I have to say Vicky Radford was very much conspicuous by her absence. She contributed so much to the meeting last
year. Hope you're all right, V. We haven't heard from you in ages.

And it was lovely to put a face and a voice to Evelyne, aka Madam Vichot, my number one fan in Germany! I was
delighted to sign her copies of my books for her. Did you know she's posted a review of my book Anne Droyd and Century
Lodge on the German Amazon?

Meeting Kuma-Chan is an event in itself! His love of The Tripods oozed from him so much he could have burst - but
hey, he's not the only who is a tad obsessed with John Christopher's creation. I have thought about it at least once
every day since the autumn of 1984.

I'm glad Jim was happy to hear the personal recollections of what The Tripods means to the fans, especially as I
sensed Kuma and myself perhaps dominating the conversation at times (sorry guys, I just get so passionate about it!).

I noticed Graz had his sound recording device discreetly tucked away, so those of you who didn't make it will
probably get an audio record of the day at some point, and Sven, Rainer and Druid were all busy with their video
recorders. I understand a compilation DVD is being prepared from the footage. I'm assuming this will be made available
as a download from Mailhunter's site? I know those who attended will be getting it on disc. Can't wait for that!

>From some questions I devised (at work in my day job - tut tut) Adrian interviewed Jim on camera, and then I
>chaired a discussion with the fans. This should make interesting viewing when our camera men have edited it together.
>Then main commentators were Jim, Adrian, myself, Kuma, Katrina and CP Leigh. Again I'm hoping the others were just
>happy to listen, rather than not getting a chance to speak.

One of the real highlights for me was the look on Jim's face when Sven and his companions presented him with that
portrait of Henry. He was literally struck dumb with emotion!

There was some talk of holding the next gathering at Friday Street (the location used for Wherton Village in Episode
One). That would be tremendous! Though I have to say if a gathering could be held further up North, it would make it
easier for some more members of the League in Britain to get to it.

No doubt when I return to my day job tomorrow morning, I'll be thinking of the gathering on Saturday.

Shame Alick Rowe was unable to attend. He would have made a great interviewee.

Maybe next time...

Will H.

@ MH
Naja, im Gegensatz zu den überbordenden Kommentaren der anderen hat er sich ja schon recht kurz gehalten, oder?

Alright freemen for those of you interested I will now share with you
why I didn't come to the meet even though I had planned to. For those
of you not interested, don't bother reading this.

It's very simple actually, and it might sound like a bad excuse to
some but the main reason was because I "suffer" from epilepsy.

Now... What has that got do do with anything I hear some ask. An
epileptic seizure can be triggered from lack of sleep, and can easily
be triggered from a lack of sleep combined with alcohol use. Now the
problem was that fri-sat night would have been very sleep-free
considering my traveling from Stansted to London to Brighton, and I
doubt much sleep would have existed sat-sun night either. Or am I
wrong Sven?;-)

Now back when I booked my trip to England Peter O. said he would give
me shelter on fri-sat night, and that would have made things much
easier. But after he pulled out I really started to think if this trip
would have been good for my health. And Peter if you're reading this
I'm NOT blaming you for anything, I understand you had more important
things to do.

So a couple of weeks before the meet I started to think about it all
and believe me, after having experience in the field of epileptic
seizures in the past it's not something I want to relive very often...

So, next time there is a meet-up I will use my head a tad better when
planning. I really need to learn to think before I act, it's been a
problem for me all my life. :-)

My wife said that next time I should bring her and our daughter with
me, and we (or hopefully she!) can plan everything better in advance.
Hotel (motel) night, AN EARLIER FLIGHT and so on.

Congratulations to those who didn't fall asleep yet, this just wasn't
easy to write any shorter.

Here's to you all,

Daniel

Aloa zusammen! :;):

Flug: 98,- €
Flghfn-Bus: 21,- €
Überlandbus: 23.- €
Zelt 2 Nächte: 15,- €
Pers 2Nächte: 15.- €
T-Shirt: 28,- €
----------------------------------
insgesamt 200,- €
