Guten tag! While visiting Wales during the first weekend of March me and my fiancée took the opportunity to visit Portmeirion, site of amongst others The Prisoner, Doctor Who and ofcourse... The Tripods! The beginning of episode 1.12 was filmed here, and I think you will recognize the locations. Enjoy!

I just discovered via google that the "town hall" which you paid a visit to was indeed the location of the trial scene. The actual room that was used is called the "Hecules Hall". Here is a good picture of what it looks like set up for a wedding instead of a trial for three young thieves.
