Ooer, what a strange evening for chatting. It wasn't a bad turn out for a Wednesday evening, but very soon, strange things began to happen, and we were reminded of the `good-old-days' of Yahpoo's mercilessejector seat! Being regularly thrown out into the cold this week were, MH, Alick, Akira, Madame, Capped Dan, Annette, and myself. <XXX> Graz, it's me again - Alick ! I keep getting disconnected <Graz> oh bugger. <MH> doh :-(
We did however manage to have a chat about a few bits and bobs, like the cost of cigarettes, Christopher Eccleston in the new production of, The Dark is Rising, and Dan's latest musical master piece. Yes, we've really been musically treated recently, and it doesn't show any sign of letting up. You MUST check out http://myspace.com/triplenband and listen to "Life Goes On". Dan describes it as, `A ballad with no drums. Very soft, and buttery...' And I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that I think it's even better than `Stealing our World.' Another moody bit of music, and Dan's lyrical articulation is somewhat eerie! Very original, and very enjoyable. Congrats, Dan!
<Annette> so... did I miss much? <Annette> is this working? ** Annette has left the chatroom ** <Graz> Oh ANNETTE!
Round about this point, the chat went pear shaped and I was thrown out, but when I finally got back on, Madame Vichot was there to chat with me a bit longer. Actually, she stuck with me until my eyelids could no longer bear the weight. We had a lovely chat, and she even invited me for a glass of juice down the Pink Parrot (A nice little corner in Sven's site.) Unfortunately I was duly turned away at the door because of the strict lederhosen dress code. (According to that idiot off the, `Cult of…' documentary!) Thanks, Madame. :)
Greetings Freemen. This week's chat was unfortunately interrupted by technical difficulties remenescent of the old Yahoo chats. I can only apologise. I have had a look at the site to see if there is anything I can do to ensure this doesn't happen again...there isn't. It seems that Java were having a particularly bad night.
For those of you who are new to our group, our chats happen every Wednesday at 20.00 (BST) on our website at http://www.freewebs.com/theleagueoffreemen.
I have given much thought to the possiblility of merging with the German website for our international chats and have concluded that this would not be in everybody's interest. We have not long transferred this activity to our own website, and it is accessable to ALL of our members worldwide.
Further to this, The League Of Freemen was once the ONLY and Official club for the Tripods, as licenced by Richard Bates the Producer. I hope I speak for many of us when I say that we SHOULD have our own place to come together. With our reputation, it looks pretty poor if we have to go to other sites to execute our own activities.
That does not mean that I cannot appreciate the offer as it was intended, and the logic behind it. It was well meant and has been gratefully received in that way. Thankyou Sven.
On the subject of chats, Graz is certainly coming into his own with his weekly reviews. His style is unique and I am most grateful for his time in putting it together.
Talking of new members, THREE Freemen have joined this week and I would like to personally welcome Beowulf_prime_2001, James_CobbUK, and RaymondHolmesMD. All three tell me that they have been dedicated to The Tripods for years. Together they have boosted our numbers to 326.
James mentioned that he would have liked to have been an actor is the series. In fact, in the 1980s, when we were battling alongside Richard Bates to persuade the BBC to allow the shooting of series 3, I suggested to Richard that, if we were successful, we use members of The League as background artistes (commonly but incorrectly known as "Extras"). Because of the legalities at the time regarding Union memberships, he simply stated, with tongue firmly set in his cheek,
"TECHNICALLY...no."
The way this was said however, I took it that he would have pushed the bounaries in order to fullfill this request.
Thankyou to Dakki for sharing his holiday photographs with us. The location and the sunshine look wonderful. (Are those YOUR legs, Daniel, or were you running them in for somebody else)?!!! ;o)
Hopefully you are all enjoying the sunshine we are experiencing in Brighton at the moment. According to the weather forecast on my Apple mac we are going to experience ever increasing temeratures until Tuesday when it will rain...then as of Wednesday we are back to the sunshine and warmth.
Whatever the weather, have yourseves a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes, ADRIAN
Klingt viellecht doof, is aber so.
*ggg* )

Dear all. I am aiming at Saturday 22nd September for our meeting. As yet the venue has not received a firm booking and I have not found a camp site close enough for convenient travel. I have resisted releasing dates until I can confirm that all facilities are in place but now give way to pressure.

Yeah, I'd appreciate a date too [As I have to work Sat mornings] but did't want to get heavy as I prob live 2nd nearest to Brighton after Adrian himself [= Surrey, close to Friday St where Tripods ep1 was filmed ^^ ]+ I appreciate its hassles for Adrian + the Foriegn Freemen needing to know for flights/budjets etc
I could maybe swing a Sat off work short notice, but the more notice the better really ^^ or worse comes to the worst go in work early Sat and catch a early a train to Brighton as I can
I'm a bit ashamed to say I've never camped in my life... I'd prob bottle it and find a cheap hotel or something
Bit ashamed to say I kinda bottled out of the last meeting too because it was a lot more travel hassle for me than going to Brighton + I was a bit afraid/paranoid I'd be all Gushy/Fanboy/Nerd and embaress myself/everyone with ultra geekyness [You know, quoting episodes at length, stuff like that]
Kuma, don’t be ashamed of bottling it, lol, I went camping once and hated it and never intend to go camping again. I don’t know if I will be down for the whole weekend or not, but I will do the Saturday, it is just I don’t know if my whole family will want to come down, as they tolerate my Tripodyness. If the worst comes to the worst, my daughter and I will come down by train.
Thank you for the date Adrian, I am sorry you felt under pressure to do so, if there is anything I can do to help….
